Maternity
Minx is often asked what to wear when pregnant - it was therefore a joy to discover the properly long-enough and bike-friendly tees from Mepod. There will also be full performance cycling jerseys from March 2012 (forget planning for a summer baby, plan for your cycling wardrobe...)
As for bottoms - well there used to be one maternity bike short but it wasn't especially successful fit-wise and the minute you'd given birth was unwearable. Minx much prefers to work with regular bottoms that can be adapted to wearing with a bump and can also do duty afterwards, When you're ready to approach a saddle without wincing that is. The styles shown here are especially good due to elastic-free waists that will expand with the bump and as you get bigger, be worn comfortably under it. Elastic-free hems are also more comfortable on expanding and fluid-retaining legs. (What, no-one warned you about that?) The Sugoi Lucky Knicker, with its flared hem gives balance if you get heavier in the leg (Minx sobs at the memory) and if you want to go pad-free look at the Hatha Capri. For size, measure your hips under the bump and go for the nearest to that- up if between sizes.
The Infinity Shrug is a fun way to cover your arms if they get a bit wibbly (sorry, but yes that can happen too) - but it's practical as you do tend to run hotter when pregnant so its good for keeping the chill off arms without swathing the rest of you in layers.
